CREC

Charnwood Racial Equality Council

Charnwood Racial Equality Council was set up in November 1995, replacing the Charnwood Community Relations Council. The organisation, which is also known as “GARDEN”, has been established in the Borough of Charnwood since May 1969.

The CREC was established to:

  • Work towards eliminating  discrimination
  • Campaign for equality and opportunity
  • Promote good relations between persons of different backgrounds.

As well as working locally we are part of a network of RECs, which is linked regionally and nationally.

CREC with other agencies partners is working for a just society, which gives everyone an equal chance to learn, work and live free from discrimination and prejudice and from the fear of harassment and violence.
