Derby REC works in partnership with individuals and organisations for a fair, just and cohesive society which values diversity and gives everyone the right to work, learn and live free from discrimination, prejudice and racism.

   

Key targets

Derby REC provides services to the wider public in respect of carrying out our aims towards the elimination of racial discrimination; and the promotion of equality of opportunity and good relations.

Race Specific Casework: Assistance to individuals who complain of racial discrimination, racial harassment etc.

Policy & Strategic Development: Advice, assistance and consultancy to a range of voluntary, public
Authorities and private organisations. Derby REC is a member of statutory bodies such representations
Derby City Council’s Community Cohesion Leadership Group. Minority Communities Diversity Forum, Children’s Commission, and Derbyshire Constabulary Race Hate Panel.

Education: Diversity in Schools Project working in Derby secondary schools to challenge racism and to
promote positive attitudes to religion, age, gender, sexual orientation and disability.

Community Engagement & Development:  DRECfacilitates the Derby Community Cultural Diversity Group made up of Derby’s Diverse communities.
